Importance of Leadership

I firmly believe there is no better experience than leadership. Throughout the various leadership roles I have been blessed with, I have gained character, wit, and integrity. Below lists my leadership experience in and outside of journalism.

In Journalsim

Sports Director

June 2022-May 2023

Bruin News Now always has a News Director and Sports Director chosen by our advisor. During the summer, I was selected as this year's Sports Director. This role comes with many responsibilities, such as: mapping out the weekly sports segments, ensuring our editor has all the soundbites for sports, and overseeing that the sports anchor is filmed exceptionally for the newscast. I have thoroughly enjoyed being Sports Director. It has given me a unique leadership experience.

2019-2023

Student Council

Student Council has given me countless opportunities to serve my school community.I have served on Student Council since ninth grade as class Vice President. This year I am Student Body President, and my biggest commitment was planning Homecoming Week.I had to pick a theme for the week and daily themes for students to dress up for. I also planned one of the four pep rallies held throughout the week, and I guided the other Student Council members with planning their pep rallies. Student Council also organizes the school's annual Trunk or Treat.

2020-2023

Event Coordinator

Bruinthon

Bruinthon is an annual fundraiser for Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital. It is an eight hour long stand-a-thon filled with different activities each hour. As Event Coordinator, I helped the Director decide on the different activities and games held throughout the event. It is always a very successful fundraiser, and that year we raised over $16,000.
